Prost!

So I have been brewing since the summer of 2006. It has passed being a hobby, I love the time I spend brewing. In the last few years brewing has become part of what I am.

I spent a short stint with a small brewery and after a long hiatus from the world, things are starting to shape up toward a new revelation(revolution) in my brewing life. Come follow on the journey, I can't promise being heavily active but will try to keep posts interesting and informative.

AHA Big Brew reminder

ANNOUNCING THE 2011 AHA BIG BREW DAY EVENT!!
Date: Saturday May 7, 2011
Time: 11:00 am to 6:00pm or so….
Location: Artisan Homebrew, 128 E Lancaster Ave. Downingtown, PA 19335
Brew Times: All Grain/Partial Mash - Mash in by 11am (this means be at the shop by 10 to start your water)
Extract - Start heating water by 12pm
Plan to have your boil by 1pm.
Info: Once again Mike at Artisan Homebrew has offered up shop to host the club's AHA Big Brew Event for National Homebrew Day. For those of you who do not know about Big Brew: About AHA Big Brew.
We will have 8 Brew stations available for B.U.Z.Z. members this year.
This event is open to everyone you do not have to be brewing to show up, come watch see other brewers’ techniques, work on your wish list for new gear, share some brews and even learn a little. Mike will provide the water (Downingtown Municipal water) and splitters to get to your stations; if you have your own hoses try to bring them so we are sure to have more than enough. You are responsible to bring all of the gear that you will need to brew that day; if you forget something there happens to be a homebrew shop conveniently located just yards away. All recipes should be purchased from Artisan Homebrew and Mike has recommended getting those to him a week before (so by May 1st) so he can have them all prepared for you on Big Brew Day. If you are brewing or if you plan on making an extended stay I would recommend bringing a seat. Brewers are welcome to bring a tent/table to set up their areas.
The AHA does put together a list of recipes to brew for Big Brew but you can brew whatever you want, but for those interested in that list: AHA Big Brew Recipes.
Mike will be firing up a smoker with some meat on it, but it would be great if some people from the club could help provide some side dishes (salads, desserts, veggies?, etc.) If you plan on joining us and bringing some food please let me know so I can keep track of what’s coming and we don’t end up with 14 iterations of Egg Salad. There will also be some beer, as well as water and soda, being provided but you are welcome to bring your own(especially homebrew.)
If you do plan on coming (and are not brewing) please let me know so we can plan how much food we will need.
Just send me: Name, Number of people joining us and what type of side dish you’re planning to bring.
If you are brewing that day feel free to bring a keg of your finest, you will need to be responsible for your own CO2 and ice. If you don’t keg your beer, bottles are also welcome, again you will need plan to keep them cold and clean up the empties.
For those of us who are serving homebrew, I am encouraging you to please be responsible; if you don’t think someone would be served at a bar please don’t serve them at the event.
Last year was a lot of fun and is really what lead me to join B.U.Z.Z. so please invite friends and family who might have an interest in the hobby.
One last note, would anyone be interested in filming/photographing the event to post to the AHA. Or if we have multiple videos can anyone edit them. The AHA is holding a Video Contest for Big Brew Day, info here.
Any other suggestions that I may have over looked please let me know.
Cheers,
Steve
